How to Read This Page
Where the numbers come from: every vote count and precinct count comes from the North Dakota Secretary of State. All results are unofficial until counties canvass and the state certifies them.
“Leading” means ahead right now. It does not mean the person has won. When only early and mail ballots are counted, we say “too soon to tell.”
Precincts: a precinct is “done” only when all of its ballots are counted. “Early ballots only” means early and mail ballots are in but Election Day ballots are not.
Maps: each race has its own map. A county’s color shows who leads in that race in that county. Tap a county to see its numbers for that race.
Colors: Republican Democrat Independent Yes No. Nonpartisan races use other colors.
K-Hits estimate: inside a race you may see “K-Hits estimate.” It is our statistical estimate of how the race will end, based on how many votes are still uncounted in each county and how each county has voted (SOS results tonight and the 2026 primary). It is not a result and can be wrong. We say “K-Hits projects” only at better than 995 in 1,000, with enough precincts done.
